Welcome to the European Documentation & Research Centre Website

The European Documentation and Research Centre (EDRC) was established at the University of Malta in 1992. Situated on the top floor of the two-storey building on the left-hand side of the main entrance of the University, the EDRC is easily accessible to the public. In 2004, the EDRC was awarded the title of Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence following years of achievement in Jean Monnet Projects.  These projects are open to centres specialised in European affairs under the European Union's Jean Monnet Programme.

The EDRC also hosts the European Documentation Centre (EDC) a comprehensive collection of treaties, legislation, documentation, reports and studies published by the European Commission and other institutions of the European Union. The EDC is open to the public, and its activities in the information field are ever growing.

The EDRC was recently admitted as a member of TEPSA, the Trans European Policy Studies Association.TEPSA was established in 1974 and comprises leading research institutes in the field of European affairs from across Europe, with an office in Brussels. As stated by TEPSA itself, 'with its decentralized approach, TEPSA combines the strengths of its members and enriches the results of their work. TEPSA exemplifies the ‘bottom-up’ approach to European governance, and contributes to the EU’s dialogue with citizens.'

TEPSA's research areas cover the full range of European studies with particular emphasis on institutional issues and democracy as well as enlargement and foreign policy. Of particular interest is the network's framework contract with the European Parliament where TEPSA members provide briefings and studies to the European Parliament. The full range of briefing notes and studies, as well as additional publications issued by TEPSA, can be accessed from their website.

As the only representative from a Maltese institution on the TEPSA Board, the EDRC welcomes all interest in this network and is willing to extend all cooperation to those who wish to contribute to the network.
