Study-unit Aims:

• To enable the student to become acquainted with research methodologies and facilities;
• To provide sound techniques in measuring and analysing data;
• To facilitate the process of carrying out independent work efficiently and effectively;
• To build up self confidence and attitude to make oral presentations.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- To adopt an independent approach towards identifying and addressing a problem;
- To develop a project and prepare a time frame for the execution of its different stages;
- To learn how to present data results effectively and correctly;
- To learn about presentation techniques;
- To differentiate between the requisites for a dissertation and a scientific paper.

2. Skills:
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Develop practical experience in developing and managing a research project;
- Acquire the skills to analyse data effectively;
- Develop a sense of self-confidence during oral presentation;
- Train to successfully defend one's opinion.
