Nicholas Gingell began his academic journey at the University of Malta, earning a B.Sc. in Chemistry and Physics in 1993. He went on to complete an M.Sc. in Chemistry, followed by a B.Eng. (Hons.) degree in Electrical Engineering, which he obtained in 2002.
During and between his studies, Nicholas gained valuable experience working in various laboratories, both within the industrial sector and at the University of Malta. He has a strong interest in both chemistry and laboratory instrumentation, and his academic qualifications and professional background reflect this. His most substantial professional experience was a 14-year tenure as Quality Control Manager at a pharmaceutical company.
In 2018, he joined the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at the University of Malta, where he currently holds the position of Senior Systems Engineer. He played a significant role in the development project that led to the implementation of the department’s new laboratories. Following their completion in 2023, he has focused on laboratory operations, providing support to students and researchers in materials characterisation and areas involving the application of chemistry.
