The current research area in which the Department of Physics is involved includes:

 

Research within this department currently focuses on Electromagnetics: measurement and modelling of electromagnetic fields (EMF) in the environment; EMF health risk assessment; electromagnetic compatibility; measurement of permittivity of biological tissues; medical applications of microwaves; Instrumentation: development of novel sensors in collaboration with industry; Astrophysics, Cosmology and Astronomy: gravity theories; cosmology; particle astrophysics; cosmic magnetism; exoplanets; star and galaxy formation; real-time high performance computing applied to radio astronomy; instrument and detector design (from 100MHz to 10 GHz); machine learning for astrophysical application; quantum optomechanics (the nature of quantum mechanics at the meso-scale).
