Department of Pastoral Theology, Liturgy & Canon Law

Pastoral theology is an interdisciplinary area in continuous dialogue with the human and social sciences. The goal of teaching and research in this department is to:

  • provide insight into the basics of ecclesial action, with particular emphasis on Church ministry,
  • reading and responding to the signs of the times, and
  • equip persons working in/with Church related agencies with those skills and competences needed in practical everyday life situations.

The various research specialisation and interests of the members of staff of this department is its strength. Pastoral Theology, Liturgy, Pastoral Counselling, Catechetics and Religious Education, Canon Law, and Theology of Communication form the core teaching areas within this department.
