About us

The Maltese archipelago consists of Malta, Gozo and Comino, with two smaller uninhabited islands, Cominotto and Filfla. They occupy an area of 316 square kilometres, with Malta the largest island being 27 kilometres long and 14 kilometres wide. The islands lie 96 kilometres south of Sicily. There are about 390,000 inhabitants.

The present Medical School owes its origins to the Hospitaller Order of St John. It was instated by Grandmaster Fra Nicholas Cottoner in 1676.
