| DESCRIPTION | The University of Malta Library offers a comprehensive range of services designed to support doctoral researchers throughout their academic journey. A dedicated team of Library professionals provides guidance in sourcing relevant academic materials, developing effective literature search strategies, and employing best practices in research planning and organisation. Participants will learn how to efficiently search for academic information using HyDi, the Library’s federated search platform, as well as through a range of specialised research databases and related search tools covering diverse disciplines. The session will also provide practical guidance on how to organise, manage, and cite references effectively using RefWorks, a bibliographic management software that streamlines the process of compiling bibliographies and integrating citations into academic writing. The workshop will also introduce participants to the Open Science which plays a central role within the University’s research culture. It provides the policies, infrastructure, support services and training that enable researchers to publish and share their outputs openly, both publications and data, thereby increasing reach, reuse and impact. OUTCOMES By the end of this workshop, participants will: - Gain a comprehensive understanding of the University Library’s research services, including specialised research support and training opportunities; - Learn how to efficiently access and retrieve academic materials, including peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and primary research sources; - Develop skills in managing research outputs using bibliographic management tools such as RefWorks; - Understand the importance of sharing research outputs via platforms like OAR@UM and to enhance academic visibility; - Explore strategies for effectively utilising Open Access resources to supplement research activities. |
