DESCRIPTION In this study-unit students will have the opportunity to verify the multiplicity of witnessing to the living person of Jesus Christ through the inspired writings of the four Evangelists and their respective communities, and the particularities of each of the four Gospels.

The section on THE SYNOPTIC GOSPELS is divided into 4 topics:

Topic 1: The Synoptic Fact and the Formation of the Gospels;
Topic 2: The Gospel of Mark;
Topic 3: The Gospel of Matthew;
Topic 4: The Gospel of Luke.

THE GOSPEL OF JOHN:

This part introduces the student to the uniqueness of the Fourth Gospel within early Christian literature. Three main issues shall be addressed:

(1) Christology;
(2) relationship between the Fourth Gospel and the Synoptics;
(3) purpose, date, destination and historical environment of John.
