Abstract: Ask anyone how much Malta has changed during these 30 years of planning, and the answer will likely be somewhere between “a lot” and “beyond recognition”. Beyond the signature developments, it is perhaps the slow creep that has really changed the face of the islands. The cumulative effect of thousands of building permits issued annually can be felt not just in the spread but also in the style and density of development. Many of us now consider Malta to be over-developed - even as we ourselves partake in the material fruits that the development yields.
