It-terminoloġija Maltija : ħarsa deskrittiva

Abstract

Din ir-riċerka tgħaqqad tant riżorsi terminoloġiċi bil-Malti li nħadmu b’għanijiet u metodi differenti matul ħafna snin bl-iskop li tippreżenta ħarsa deskrittiva tas-sitwazzjoni terminoloġika tal-ilsien Malti. Tibda b’tagħrif ġenerali tal-attivitajiet ewlenin li żviluppaw it-terminoloġija internazzjonali minn qasam tad-dilettanti għal dixxiplina organizzata u studjata mill-professjonisti. Issegwi l-iżvilupp tat-terminoloġija Maltija billi titfa’ dawl fuq ix-xogħol u ħidmiet, lokali u internazzjonali, li saru minn individwi u gruppi. Tipproponi għaxar perspettivi ta’ kif inħarsu lejn it-terminoloġija Maltija waqt li titfa’ dawl kwantitattiv fuq karattru formali wieħed tal-34 qasam lessikali li fihom it-terminoloġija Maltija għamlet progress. L-istudju jikkonkludi b’riflessjoni miftuħa, li tissuġġerixxi diversi toroq sistematiċi għar-riċerka terminoloġika Maltija futura ispirata mill-għarfien miksub minn dan l-istudju.

This research brings together a wide range of existing Maltese terminological resources – developed over many years with different goals and methods – to offer descriptive and comprehensive account of the terminological landscape of the Maltese language. It opens with an overview of the key international developments that have shaped the field of terminology, then traces the evolution of Maltese terminology by highlighting both local and international initiatives, proposes ten distinct perspectives through which Maltese terminology may be examined, and draws on quantitative data to shed light on a specific formal characteristic across the 34 lexical fields where Maltese terminology has experienced growth. The study concludes with an open-ended reflection, suggesting several systematic avenues for future Maltese terminological research inspired by the insights gained from this study.
