Newspoint, the news portal of the University of Malta, provides staff, students, alumni and the general public with information on news and activities at the University. It also includes notices that are of special interest to UM staff and students, as well as opportunities to participate in a wide range of events and research projects.
Newspoint Update is sent to the University of Malta staff and students mailing list on a weekly basis, every Friday. Items for inclusion on Newspoint Update are to be submitted by Thursday. The Newspoint Update archive is available on this portal too.
UM Staff and students are reminded to look closely at the section referring to University of Malta Notices. Some of the notices lead to the University intranet.
Newspoint is also available on My UM, the official app of the University of Malta. To get to know more and download My UM visit the website.
Event submission guidelines
All events listed on the University of Malta Events Calendar available on Newspoint must be associated with the University. Examples include events organised by an administrative or academic entity at the University, or by a Senate-recognised student organisation, or large public events (academic and/or cultural) held at university venues.
Events listed in the section Happening in Malta are those events not associated with the University of Malta but that might be of interest to University staff, students and the general public due to their academic and/or cultural nature. Only events of an academic and/or cultural nature by organisations that are not associated with the University are included in this section on Newspoint. These include events organised by:
- cultural institutes/entities
- voluntary organisations in Malta (refer to the list of voluntary organisations on the website of the Office of the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations).
