The Faculty of Information and Communication Technology at the University of Malta is once again showcasing the work of its undergraduate students during the annual final year project exhibition. This will be coupled with the Dean’s List Awards ceremony that celebrates the academic achievements of final year students. This year the opening ceremony of the exhibition will be held on 11 July at 18:30.
This year’s exhibition is themed 'Excellence through Collaboration' to underline the interdisciplinary work synonym with ICT and to highlight the Faculty’s willingness to strengthen collaboration with industry. The event will be opened by the Hon. Silvio Schembri, Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation.
During the exhibition the Faculty will be showcasing around 55 projects, which relate to various disciplines within the field of ICT. The projects have different backgrounds touching upon, but not limited to, new technologies such as artificial intelligence, assistive technologies, augmented reality, blockchain technologies, data science, internet of things, and security. Other projects cover more 'traditional' areas such as software development models, image and video analysis and processing, program execution verification, testing, visualisation, embedded systems and chip design, data transmission, system modelling, social media and tools, mobile technologies, financial tools, and user experience.

The exhibited projects range from projects that have a more fundamental and conceptual nature to others that are more applicative in nature. Most deal with state-of-the-art solutions in emerging fields of technology. This guarantees that anyone visiting the exhibition will find projects that will capture his / her imagination.
The ICT projects exhibition will be open to the general public and industry on Friday 12 July between 17:00 and 20:00 at the Faculty of ICT of the University of Malta. More details are available on the Faculty’s Facebook page.
The Faculty offers tuition and supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Covering the large spectrum of ICT, the Faculty offers five undergraduate degree programmes that provide the first steps for the development of engineers and computer scientists. These degree programmes are wide enough to allow for job flexibility within the ICT industry that drives today’s economy and the ability to further their studies and specialise at postgraduate level.
The Faculty is also very active in research in the various disciplines of ICT, where collaboration with industry and policy makers is key to cater for the country’s needs of today and tomorrow. Industry players that are not currently collaborating with the faculty are encouraged to visit the exhibition and engage with students and researchers and staff. The Faculty’s research work is also recognised at international level where a number of peer-reviewed publications result from the hard work of the students and staff each year. This is coupled with funded research that the Faculty attracts through international collaborations in European projects.
