Event: International Men's Day Seminar at UM
Date: Wednesday 19 November 2025
Time: 18:00 - 20:30
Venue: Aula Prima, Valletta Campus
International Men’s Day is an opportunity to reflect on the diverse experiences of men and the importance of creating spaces where their voices can be heard.
Following the success of last year’s Teach-In on Masculinities in Contemporary Maltese Society, this year’s evening event organised under the Raġel fuq l-Irġiel initiative—will turn its focus to the important intersections between masculinities and mental health.
Held by the Equity Office in collaboration with the Pro-Rector for Student and Staff Affairs and Outreach, Prof. Carmen Sammut, the seminar seeks to create a meaningful space for open dialogue, reflection, and critical engagement.

By bringing together academics, practitioners, and members of the wider community, the discussion will explore how different understandings of masculinity shape men’s experiences of mental health, while also considering the societal challenges and opportunities for fostering healthier, more inclusive models of wellbeing.
Too often, conversations around men’s wellbeing, mental health, and social roles are overlooked or left unspoken.
Through this initiative, the University continues to encourage constructive debate around pressing social issues, while also supporting awareness and action that contribute to both individual and collective wellbeing.
