We aim to promote sustainable, smart, and all-inclusive packaging, just for you!
We aim to develop a novel smart packaging solution, which prioritises user requirements and sustainability aspects. SMARTSPACK is funded by the FUSION R&I: Technology Development Programme 2022 of the Malta Council for Science & Technology (Project R&I-2021-005T).
A user-centred design approach will be employed throughout the design stage, to ensure that the consumer is satisfied with the sustainable smart packaging, thus contributing to the overall end-user experience.
This project is led by Prof. Ing. Philip Farrugia, from the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Malta (UM). Other UM members of the research team are Tamasine Camilleri, Alessandra Bianco, Svetlana Mifsud, Dr Ing. Marvin Bugeja, and Dr Margaret Camilleri Fenech. I-Automate (Malta) ltd., Lewis Press ltd., and Multipackaging ltd. form part of the SMARTSPACK consortium.
