DEPARTMENT Spatial Planning and Infrastructure

DESCRIPTION This study-unit is a continuous professional development programme for Infrastructure Malta's technical and administrative. staff It aims to look at the implications of mobility on a number of disciplines not least sustainable development, economics, social implications and environmental aspects. It will also look at the implementation of mobility projects from a risk and quality perspective. The module foresees an 'out of the box' thinking approach which aims to broaden the learner's viewpoint of mobility beyond its engineering requirements. To this effect it is also envisaged to involve stakeholders in debating mobility issues with the cohort of learners so as to help learners better understand societal expectations. In this manner the study-unit will positively contribute to a more holistic understanding of mobility issues and will seek to improve the design and implementation of projects in order to foster sustainability and resilience in this critical portion of Malta's infrastructure.

The study-unit will be assessed by means of a log book, in consonance to how CPD activity is recorded within professional institutions. The learners will be asked to present a summary of their logbook together with the lessons learnt from the study-unit.
