DEPARTMENT Art and Art History

DESCRIPTION This study-unit explores the dynamic intersection of art practice and theory in the current digital age. The innovative program delves into the evolving landscape of contemporary art that has been challenged by the notions brought forward by our post-internet era.
Through a blend of theory and hands-on practice, students will dissect the impact of digital culture on artistic expression. They will engage with renowned artists, experiment with the hybridity of multimedia and traditional techniques, and critique the complexities of our digital existence.

The study-unit will look at the works of influential artists such as Cory Arcangel, Oliver Laric, Jon Rafman and Hito Steyerl among others, as well as milestone exhibitions such as MOMA’s Ocean of Images that took place in 2015.

The students are expected to develop a critical approach towards current notions brought forward by the digital age.
