DESCRIPTION This is a semester long placement component in the course intended to provide participants with hands on experience at museum and heritage sites as educators on location. It is a crucial component of the course. The students will be supervised. The work involved entails reading round the subject dealt with specifically by the heritage and museum site followed, by efforts to present the
material in an effective pedagogical manner commensurate wit the age of the visitors, be they children, adolescents or adults. It involves 225 hrs ( practicum contact hours , background reading, remote preparation, seminar participation and presentation) and an agreement has been secured with Heritage Malta regarding access to their sites. The communication to this effect was forwarded earlier to PVC committee via our Faculty Officer.

Study-Unit Aims:

This study-unit aims to enable EDUMaH students to become familiar with the practical components in the domain of Museum Education. The main objective is to enable students to become adept at employing a variety of approaches and techniques in this domain., to expand their hands on capabilities and skills in museum and heritage and develop skills to effectively use and create learning aids for children, youth and adults.They canh also learn background historical and/or scientific knowledge connected with one or more Heritage sites placed at their disposal by Heritage Malta.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- identify links between general educational knowledge and Museum education and practice;
- apply knowledge of the field to the specific site or sites assigned.
- apply different educational philosophies to museum education
- critically adapt psychological approaches to the specific learners' age cohort;
- choose among different learning aids and prompts for a differentiated visiting group

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- enhance fluency in articulation
- handle different media well
- pitch language and examples to the level of people of different ages
- develop sharp listening skills
- connect concepts and material to the participant/s sense of relevance.
- improve interactive skils.
