DESCRIPTION This unit aims at developing everyday skills in classroom management and equips students with the necessary skills to produce lessons which are pedagogically valid within the realistic context of the school curriculum.

At the end of this unit, students should be in a position to:

- be aware of and be able to use resources;
- identify the best means to reach their pedagogical objectives;
- identify the teaching technique which best corresponds to the relative needs of the student;
- maintain students’ motivation through varied and intelligent choice of techniques.

Issues dealt with are:

- analysis of oral communication in class;
- types and functions of classroom layouts;
- traditional classroom resources : boards, charts, prompts;
- justification and methodology for group work;
- games for language teaching;
- ideas for using cartoons, caricatures, song, theatre and poetry;
- use of other modern supports: powerpoint, Internet, video, interactive whiteboard, CD Roms, etc.
