DESCRIPTION The Objective of Interior Design study-units is to offer the Architectural Student the opportunity to develop talents and address skills towards the further understanding of a wide range of Interior Design problems. A further intention is to achieve a standard of professional expertise, able to communicate and realize solutions of quality and satisfaction arising from the real human needs on any Interior Design requirement.


  1. Planning –The planning of commercial, domestic and public areas, with particular emphasis on human and social contemporary needs – including case studies


  2. Materials and their Application – Lectures and industrial visits on the design and manufacture of Materials
    Applied Materials – Domestic/Commercial/Industrial applications
    From Fabric to Stones:
    • Uses & Properties

    • Advantages and Disadvantages

    • Economic Considerations

    • Availability and Combination


  3. Light and Colour - An Analysis of the Functional Requirements, Psychological Effects, Aesthetic Possibilities, and Technical Means of Using Light and Colour in Interiors
    The Traditional and Historical Meaning of Colour – Fashion or Fad


  4. Light Fittings and their Application – Use of Appropriate Fittings within the domestic, commercial and industrial interior and the right luminance source and factor


  5. Furnishings and Fittings - Making more rational choices from available products in terms of both functional aspects as well as aesthetic qualities.
    First hand research oriented topic, including historical studies and industrial visit.
