DESCRIPTION This study-unit will look at the practical or applied aspect of Museology. The course will look at the techniques which have been developed to fulfil museal operations. The process of enumeration and the practical activities associated with museums will also be discussed.

Study-unit Aims:

The aim of this study-unit is to get students to understand the basic tools of a museographer and how they are used within a museum enviornment. It also seeks to link the theoretical with the practical in the management of collections and developing of exhibitions.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- have a good grasp of what museography entails and the various techniques that are utilised within the museum environment to fulfil those aims;
- critically evaluate a museum exhibition based on the topics discussed which are prevalent to contemporary museums.
