DESCRIPTION This study-unit allows students to reflect on their research skills and improve them by using Problem Based Learning. Here, students will be given the opportunity to carry out an analysis of their work via their dissertations and identify weaknesses. By applying their own knowledge and the knowledge gained through the help of the lecturers and co-students in the groups, they will be able to raise questions, reflect on their work and then through the knowledge gained they can revisit their work and improve it.

This will allow them to become better researchers who are well equipped to carry out rigorous and valid research projects in their future roles within HR or other work environments.

Study-unit Aims:

The aims of this study-unit is to allow students to reflect upon, discuss and improve their academic research work.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Recognise the characteristics of high-quality research;
- Reflect on their research work in a group;
- Identify what they need to change in order to improve their work and present it to scientific and academic standards.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Discuss approaches relevant to Research Process in Work and Human Resources
- Analyse theoretical and practical problems (and possible solutions) of the various research methods used in Work and Human Resources
- Apply what they learn from this unit in relation to their dissertation and in future research they may be involved in
- Spot any weaknesses they may have in their research process
- Make the transition to becoming more analytical and reflective researchers.
