| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit will be a development of CRS1008. This units will discuss in detail the various aspects of Care of Collections within the heritage sector with a special address towards museum operations. The sessions will discuss the various elements that constitute a hazard to the collections and the measures that a museum has to adopt in order to control these. Situations will be discussed on a practical level, with workshops, on site visits, examples and experiences illustrated by Heritage Malta staff who are directly involved with collections handling on a day-to-day basis, etc. All aspects of museum operations will be tackled: from methods of display and storage; security and disaster planning; visitor and educational services; staff training; transport and courier; facility planning; project management. The related issue of Management of Collections will be marginally addressed in order to give a holistic image to the student/s. Viewing of educational videos will form part of the course.
