TITLE Guided Literature Review

UM LEVEL 05 - Postgraduate Modular Diploma or Degree Course

MQF LEVEL 7

ECTS CREDITS 5

DEPARTMENT Disability Studies

DESCRIPTION The students choose a specific theme which has not been covered by the syllabus and seek to develop this theme through personal reading, research and written work. This process will be done under the regular guidance of designated tutors who have an interest in the specific theme chosen by the student. The process of carrying out research on the chosen theme is conducted on an individual basis.

The students work largely on their own without the need to attend formal lectures, although tutorials will be necessary. The choice of the theme requires the approval of the tutor concerned and the coordinator of the study-unit. The students will be required to present a comprehensive literature review based on the specific theme they would have chosen. The research will not include any collection of data but will only consist of secondary research.

Study-Unit Aims:

The aim of this study-unit is to enable the students to familiarise themselves with and explore in detail a specific theme they would have chosen. The aim is also to enable the students to start familiarising themselves with personal reading and writing a literature review.
