DESCRIPTION | This study-unit allows the students to further consider their own choreographic 'signature', style and context through a theoretical and practical investigation of a wide range of selected performance practitioners. Initially the class will engage in researching the work of these practitioners, questioning their aesthetic and approaches, reconstructing sections of their works, contextualising and critiquing work available on video/dvd or seen live. Students will then be expected to choose one practitioner to study in-depth, create and present in 'one-man-show' format a live performance of their findings. Contextual material may be presented live, or recorded in voice-over. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Describe, analyse and contextualise the choreographic work of selected performance practitioners; - Observe, select, reconstruct and perform selected excerpts of choreography; - Synthesize cogent theoretical ideas and selected excerpts in presentation; - Present/perform these in 'one-man-show' format; - Answer questions on personal rationale for choice, post-performance; - Identify personal preferences in the choreographic domain. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Critically analyse the artistic work of others; - Observe, reconstruct, master and perform excerpts; - Problem solve and synthesize elements for presentation; - Articulate findings.
