| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit offers students with the possibility of enhancing their ability to conduct economic research, by helping them integrate economic theory, research skills, critical reading of material, analysis of data and literature sources, and writing skills. Study-unit Aims To introduce students to practical issues in conducting economic research in preparation for their dissertation in the final year of their course. Learning Outcomes 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: Formulate a good research design for a specific economic area of analysis; Demonstrate an understanding of how to be concise yet comprehensive in writing a good literature review; Put forth an argument and sustain it through the use of correct and effective research tools. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: Design a research project; Critically evaluate academic material; Collect and analyse data; Write a dissertation.
