DESCRIPTION This unit will enable students to reflect on issues focusing on the learners’ development and learning process and the socio-emotional environment in secondary education. Students will be encouraged to observe closely student and teacher behaviour and interactions at school and to link this with the contributions of educational psychology. The following issues will be addressed: (1) How the adolescent learns (2) Motivating the adolescent learner (3) Responding to student diversity (4) Managing relationships in the secondary school context.

Required Text:

A list of selected readings will be provided, addressing important issues within each of the four themes.
