DESCRIPTION Learning Outcomes

The students will be able to:
- Describe the basic concepts, principles and types of evaluation
- Explain the different steps involved in an evaluation exercise
- Outline the methodologies involved in different forms of evaluation with different purposes
- Apply their knowledge in the development of a proposal for a particular programme evaluation

Contents

The study-unit will commence with an understanding of the basic steps in the evaluation of progammes or interventions to include: planning and negotiating an Evaluation Plan, collecting and analysing evidence to produce findings, disseminating information to identified audiences.
Decisions and processes at each of these steps will be considered.

The study-unit will proceed with a discussion of the following concepts:
Process and Outcome Evaluation; Formative and Summative Evaluation

With the groundwork in place, the study-unit will then focus on the tenants and methodologies of the following forms of evaluation. Each will be studied with specific examples:
- Proactive Evalaution
- Clarificative Evaluation
- Interactive Evaluation
- Monitoring Evaluation
- Impact Evaluation.
