DESCRIPTION English Version

This study-unit is intended for those who have just passed the previous study-unit, EPE2013, to communicate in Maltese, as required in their study environment and prospective work. In this course, the student continues to develop their reading, speaking and writing skills in Maltese. They are trained to use basic, technical and specific words, simple and more complicated sentences and the most common expressions in Maltese as well as abstract expressions and idioms, that are used in everyday life and in the classroom; for example, how to write a letter to parents, how to write a report, and how to communicate well in Maltese with adults and children.

Study-Unit Aims:

The objectives of this study-unit are that participants:

- properly communicate information on familiar and routine issues and themes;
- read and understand simple and complex sentences, excerpts in Maltese and student reports
- write reports, announcements, formal, informal and electronic letters to adults and students;
- function well in the workplace;
- understand the main ideas of a complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in the field of education.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- obtain knowledge about the sentence structure in Maltese and its intonation;
- become familiar with the grammatical structures of Maltese: verbs, nouns, prepositions, adjectives, and so on;
- explain and describe the cultural components in everyday communication;
- deliver oral and written presentations.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- communicate well and understand sentences and expressions that are often used in school and education;
- describe some experiences and aspects of their past; the physical, social and cultural environment around them and issues related to their needs;
- describe experiences, events, wishes and aspirations, and briefly justify their views, or explain their plans;
- answer and ask questions in Maltese;
- know how to use pronouns;
- know how to conjugate the Mamma (the basic verb in Maltese) in imperfective and perfective aspects;
- know how to fill in a form with personal details;
- know how to write a formal, informal and electronic letter;
- know how to write a message and notice;
- know how to write a report;
- be able to write words, sentences and phrases related to school life and the field of education;
- use a few adjectives in the singular, plural, comparative and superlative forms;
- use Collective, Singular, and Plural nouns;
- read and understand sentences and texts.

Verżjoni bil-Malti

Din l-unità ta' studju hi maħsuba għal min għandu ħila bażika fil-Malti (livell A1/A2 tas-CEFR)jew għadu kemm għadda mill-unità ta' studju preċedenti, EPE2013 sabiex jitgħallem jikkomunika kif meħtieġ bil-Malti fl-ambjent tal-istudju u tax-xogħol prospettiv tiegħu. F'din l-unità ta' studju, l-istudent ikompli jiżviluppa l-qari, it-taħdit u l-kitba bil-Malti sa 'Independent User' tas-CEFR. Jiġi mħarreġ sabiex juża kliem bażiku u speċifiku fil-qasam tal-edukazzjoni, sentenzi sempliċi u aktar ikkumplikati u l-espressjonijiet l-aktar komuni bil-Malti kif ukoll astratti u idjomatiċi, kif ninqdew bihom fil-ħajja ta’ kuljum u fil-klassi; ngħidu aħna, kif jikteb ittre lill-ġenituri, kif jikteb rapport u avviż, kif ukoll kif jikkomunika sew bil-Malti, mal-adulti, mat-tfal u mal-istudenti.

Għanijiet tal-Kors:

L-għanijiet ta' din l-unità ta' studju huma li l-istudenti:

- Jikkomunikaw sewwa l-informazzjoni dwar kwistjonijiet u temi familjari u ta' rutina;
- Jaqraw siltiet bil-Malti u rapporti dwar l-istudenti u jispjegaw x'fihom;
- Jiktbu rapporti, avviżi, ittri formali, informali kif ukoll elettroniċi lill-adulti u lill-istudenti;
- Jispjegaw l-ideat prinċipali ta' test kumpless fuq suġġetti kemm konkreti kif ukoll astratti, inklużi diskussjonijiet tekniċi fil-qasam tal-edukazzjoni.

Fi tmiem il-kors l-istudenti se jkunu kapaċi:

- Juru għarfien tal-istruttura tas-sentenza bil-Malti u tal-intonazzjoni;
- Juru familjarità mal-istrutturi grammatikali tal-Malti: verbi, nomi, prepożizzjonijiet, aġġettivi, u l-bqija;
- Jispjegaw u jiddeskrivu l-elementi kulturali fil-komunikazzjoni ta' kuljum.

2. Ħiliet:

Fi tmiem il-kors l-istudenti se jkunu kapaċi:

- Jikkomunikaw bl-użu ta' sentenzi u espressjonijiet li huma relatati mal-iskola u l-edukazzjoni;
- Jiddeskrivu xi esperjenzi u aspetti tal-passat tagħhom, l-ambjent fiżiku, soċjali u kulturali ta' madwarhom u kwistjonijiet relatati mal-ħtiġijiet tagħhom;
- Jiddeskrivu esperjenzi, avvenimenti, xewqat u aspirazzjonijiet, kif ukoll jiġġustifikaw fil-qosor l-opinjonijiet tagħhom, jew jispjegaw il-pjanijiet tagħhom;
- Jwieġbu u jsaqsu mistoqsijiet bil-Malti;
- Jużaw fil-kitba l-pronomi magħżulin u mehmużin;
- Jikkonjugaw il-Mamma fl-imperfett u fil-perfett;
- Jimlew formola twila bid-dettalji personali;
- Jiktbu ittra formali, informali u elettronika;
- Jiktbu messaġġ u avviż;
- Jiktbu rapport speċjalment li jkollu x'jaqmu mal-ħajja tal-iskola u mal-qasam tal-edukazzjoni;
- Jużaw l-aġġettivi fis-singular, plural, komparattiv u superlattiv;
- Jużaw in-nom tal-unita' u tal-Kollettiv, Singular, Għadd Imtenni, Plural Sħiħ u Miksur;
