UM LEVEL 05 - Postgraduate Modular Diploma or Degree Course

MQF LEVEL 7

ECTS CREDITS 30

DEPARTMENT Environmental and Resources Law

DESCRIPTION The dissertation should be done under the supervision of an academic member of the Faculties and Institutes involved in the Masters in Ocean Governance. The research project, which should be between 20,000 to 25,000 words, will be expected to involve original research and to demonstrate a close linkage with the material covered in core courses of the Masters in Ocean Governance. The research project topic is to be selected by the candidate and approved by the Board of Studies of the Masters in Ocean Governance. It should be of publishable nature.

The research project must demonstrate a comprehensive grasp of the relevant literature and an ability to engage in critical analysis. More credit will be given for originality and evidence of independent thinking, whether in terms of the material used, or the manner in which it is presented. Merely rehearsing familiar arguments or reproducing material available in existing publications will be less valued and be rewarded with a lower grade.
