| DESCRIPTION | In the Christian East, theology and spirituality form a unity, so that what is said about the doctrinal contents reflected in icons can be translated into a way of living consonant with the Gospel. The spiritual approach tries to work out the invitation which icons offer to help us change into better persons. Without divine beauty, truth remains incomplete and personal progress ultimately lacks integration into the cosmic thrust of salvation. In this course we shall try to elaborate a way of reading icons for spiritual enrichment and nourishment within a liturgical context. The relationship of this course to the other one on the Theology of the Icons is in a way that of a practical course to a theoretical one, even if the theoretical framework for the spirituality of the icons will be worked out.
