DESCRIPTION The study-unit will introduce the students to organisational behaviour and management, key functions - to determine the way inputs are transformed into outcomes that people value, the role the individual, group, leadership/management, workplace and environment play in organisational effectiveness and referencing areas of health and general food science.

Study-unit Aims:

This study-unit primarily aims to familiarise the students with the design and organisation of systems and to develop their ability to address relevant organisational behaviour issues. It aims to make management more accessible, to provide practical examples and applications of management theory and to apply organisational theory to management practice.

1. Knowledge & Understanding
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Explain the principles of management, organisations, and marketing initiatives in the work environment needed to reach targets;
- Develop and apply concepts of human resource and budgeting to best deliver services with given resources.

2. Skills
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Network, discuss and appraise current practices and plan for future needs;
- Use acquired knowledge to compile information needed to deliver, plan, review and even propose change policy of services;
- Evaluate communication processes in a work context;
- Recognise and tackle organisational behaviour opportunities and concern in the work environment.
