DESCRIPTION This study-unit continues to strengthen students' four language skills at A2.2 level - reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking and writing. It trains students to respond appropriately in a variety of communicative contexts, such as shopping, life in the city, finding lodging, recounting past events, speaking about relationships and work-related situations.

Students will therefore practice relevant speech acts through role-playing, while training in the written production of messages, letters and emails expressing thanks and apology, or giving short descriptions of events, past activities and personal experiences. Students will be equipped with the vocabulary, grammar and expressions in order to be able to deal with everyday aspects of their environment. This study-unit also exposes students to cultural aspects of life in France.

Study-unit Aims:

This study-unit aims to equip students with the necessary vocabulary, expressions and grammatical structures in order to express themselves fluently and accurately about a number of topics appropriate for level A2.2.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- use tenses to refer to past, present and future (eg. passé composé and imparfait).
- use appropriate grammatical structures and speech acts in order to carry out their communicative needs at A2.2 level.
- use vocabulary related to personality traits, professional and friendly relations, job situations, shopping, city life and lodging.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- express himself/herself about present, future or past situations.
- communicate in a professional context.
- understand short texts from the media.
- write level appropriate texts about a range of topics of immediate relevance.
