| DESCRIPTION | The study-unit will be composed of 10 sessions of 3 hours each. It will include 5 sessions in statistical analyses. The remaining 5 sessions will be on thematic analyses, the use of NVivo, Documentary Analyses, Discourse Analyses and Diary Methods. Study-unit Aims: - Further expose students to an array of research methods both quantitative and qualitative that are relevant to family studies and family policy. - Help students understand which methods are appropriate for which research question. - Teach students how to carry out data analyses. - Provide practical exercises that give students the opportunity to learn how to carry out data analyses by making use of a particular technique or approach. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Demonstrate competence in an array of research methods and in data analyses. - Critically discuss how the use of diverse research methods generate knowledge and research. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Adopt specific methodologies according to the research questions pertaining to a particular study. - Apply an array of research methods to in the analyses of data. - Analyze data rigorously as per research method chosen.
