TITLE German Level B1+

LEVEL 01 - Year 1 in Modular Undergraduate Course



DESCRIPTION The main aim of the unit is to consolidate the language skills previously acquired by the students. By the end of the study-unit the students will have acquired skills to be able to express themselves in new situations and in more complex situations encountered at work, university, leisure, etc. and clearly express an opinion on various themes including cultural themes.

Students will acquire a good grammatical knowledge which enables them to communicate with a reasonable accuracy. Their basic vocabulary will also be broadened.

Study-unit Aims:

The study-unit is designed to consolidate and improve the students' language skills both in the written and in the spoken form.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- understand longer German texts on topics of general interest, including discussions;
- understand the main ideas of complex texts on concrete topics and select detailed information.

2. Skills:
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- look up the required information in longer texts;
- use a wider range of vocabulary to express him/herself more clearly in German;
- use more complex sentence structures in his/her oral and written production;
- participate in a formal discussion on topics he/she is familiar with and express an opinion clearly;
- produce a longer connected text on familiar topics and on topics of personal interest and express his/her opinion.
