DESCRIPTION What does academic - or even scientific? - mean in the context of German studies? Which linguistic means and which methods are the basis of our research? How do I avoid plagiarism? How should I quote and what does paraphrasing actually mean? This study unit deals with questions such as these. Techniques of research, quoting and writing a bibliography as well as of oral presentations will be studied in depth in order to develop important skills for writing academic theses and giving presentations. One additional element of this unit is the support of honours students in finding topics for their BA dissertations.
