| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit provides an in-depth exploration of strategic risk leadership, emphasizing the integration and synchronization of public, private, and educational sectors. Students will learn to identify, assess, and mitigate risks through a comprehensive understanding of risk management frameworks and methodologies. The course covers key concepts such as risk identification, measurement, and control, with a focus on developing strategies that enhance resilience and sustainability. By analyzing case studies and engaging in practical exercises, students will gain the skills needed to implement effective risk management practices across various organizational contexts, fostering collaboration between public institutions, private enterprises, and educational entities. - Identification, assessment and implementation of risk strategy; - Leadership and risk; - Dealing with the uncertain environment of public service delivery; - Decision-making models; - Action research for public organizational development; - Strategic planning objectives; - Sharing implementation strategies for public service delivery; - Embedding the process of risk into public organisations. Study-Unit Aims: - To enable students to determine and apply the tools available to respond to emerging public risk scenarios; - To enable students to critically assess and address public service situational change; - To determine the management styles to determine and address the organisational related problems; - To enable students to identify methods and approaches to solution-building; - To enable students to analyse issues that concern service delivery to the citizen; - To enable students to critically analyse and select interventions, implement and review the progress of such interventions. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: • Illustrate the necessity for readiness and continuity management in the context of a rapidly changing landscape across public, private, and educational sectors; • Demonstrate how to manage a change process that includes a response to strategic risks within interconnected organizational contexts; • Apply action research to aid risk intervention and enhance preparedness in public services, private enterprises, and educational institutions; • Interpret an overview of risk management principles and practices in social and organizational settings, emphasizing cross-sector collaboration. 2. Skills By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: • Build confidence to participate effectively in public, private, and educational sector collaborative social change projects; • Apply strategic risk management concepts to address decision-making challenges in the public sector and beyond; • Acquire skills in creative problem solving, specifically tailored to managing risks in interconnected organizational contexts; • Enhance their ability to conduct thorough risk assessments, improving overall preparedness and resilience across various sectors.
