DESCRIPTION This study-unit explores the interface between digital technologies, creativity and innovation. It discusses the role of the user and user creativity in engaging in the innovation process through the use and application of digital technologies.

This study-unit also highlights the importance of creativity and innovation for the development of new digital technologies, and explores whether digital technologies have a positive or negative effect on the creative process, for example in the creative industries.

Study-Unit Aims:

The aim of this study-unit intends to illustrate how digital technologies are changing the ways in which organisations interact with users and customers and how they are creating value from their innovations.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Describe how digital technologies are changing the ways in which organisations interact with users and customers;
- Discuss the impact of digital technologies on creativity and innovation;
- Discuss the role of creativity and innovation in the development of new technologies.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Assess the potential impact of digital technologies on creativity and innovation in a particular industry/sector/organisation;
- Select appropriate digital technologies to enhance creativity and innovation in a particular industry/sector/organisation;
- Discuss the impacts of digital technologies on new models and modes of innovation, including business model innovation, user innovation and open innovation.
