|LEVEL||05 - Postgraduate Modular Diploma or Degree Course|
|DESCRIPTION||Every candidate is expected to write a research dissertation of 50,000 words, with a value of 80 ECTS credits, on a theme related to any aspect of Italian studies, with a particular focus on Italian literature, Italian linguistics, Italian cinema, and Italian theatre.
The choice of topic requires the approval of the Board of Studies. Every candidate will be assigned a tutor who will supervise his/her research and the writing of the dissertation.
Upon the completion of the study-unit, candidates will have acquired an ability:
a. To demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the topic chosen;
b. To develop their own research skills;
c. To communicate orally and in writing research results;
d. To undertake doctoral research, should they wish to pursue their academic career.
|ADDITIONAL NOTES||**Resit Availability: Students who fail to obtain an overall pass mark will be re-examined in the Dissertation. However, the resit availability for the Oral Examination is at the discretion of the Board of Examiners.|
|METHOD OF ASSESSMENT||

Units not attracting a sufficient number of registrations may be withdrawn without notice.
