DESCRIPTION This Unit will provide students with anthropological, architectural, historical, sociological, and cultural-artistic perspectives on Valletta and its people from the city’s sixteenth century beginnings to the present. By drawing on the expertise of university academics, scholars and experts, the Unit will offer a multi-disciplinary study of Valletta’s rich heritage as well as the ways that its residents and visitors have experienced the city today and in the past.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the Unit the student will be able to:
- Identify key features of Valletta’s urban, social and economic history from its origins to the present;
- Appreciate the material and cultural heritage of Valletta;
- Recognize the challenges and opportunities confronting Valletta’s residents today.

2. Skills:

By the end of the Unit the student will be able to:
- Analyze the impact of change over time;
- Examine issues of causality and consequence;
- Select, process and organize material to produce, to a deadline, a coherent and concise argument presented in written and oral form.
