| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit will help students to evaluate European Studies material used in class, discuss the negative and positive aspects of the multi-media resources and other social networking in the classroom environment. This study-unit will examine the various ways in which the resources and sources the student teacher uses, can help their students be more involved in the globalized community. This study-unit will help student teachers to use different sources to obtain their information and involve other groups that can be used in the classroom the community. This unit will also help the prospective teachers no to treat this subject as European Union Studies. This study-unit aims to make students aware of the various sources and resources which can be used for the teaching of European Studies and to acknowledge the positive aspects of the use of social networking in the classroom environment. It will examine the various ways in which the use of multimedia technology can help students become more involved in the globalised community. Study-Unit Aims: The aims of this study-unit are to: - Identify and evaluate the importance of choosing valid sources and resources to be used in the classroom; - Involve student teachers in the process of identifying technology leading to interactive lessons where students are encouraged to take control of their own learning process in a democratic atmosphere and in relation to the European Studies' Learning Outcomes Framework and the European dimension of the subject; - Identify the various groups that can be involved in the teaching and learning of the European Studies; - Promote various kinds of different resources, not only digital ones. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Deliver lessons in European Studies using various different resources ranging from traditional to digital ones; - Identify the multitude of national and international NGOs and VOs that work within society and can be integrated to deliver more holistic European Studies lessons; - Use digital competences to agree on ways to involve NGO's and VO in the classroom. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Create lesson plans which include the use of both traditional and digital resources; - Identify sources which are ideal to be used in class; - Gain competence in compiling resources to use in order to promote civic competences and better digital technology usage.
