| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit will examine the various styles to water down the complexities of ideas included in the European history, politics and identity to be included in lessons for Year 9 - Year 11 students. The theoretical background of teaching in general, and teaching European Studies will be scrutinized so as students will be able to include the European dimension to their studies and outlook on topics studied. This study-unit will also introduce the many different sites and sources in Malta and how these can be made accessible to school children. Study-Unit Aims: The aims of this study-unit are to: - Identify valid sources and resources which are to be used in secondary schools' classrooms; - Identify technology to be used to with Year 9 to Year 11 students to encourage them to take control of their own learning process in a democratic atmosphere and in relation to the European Studies' Learning Outcomes Framework and the European dimension of the subject; - Identify the various sites to visit that can be incorporated in the teaching and learning of the European Studies; - Promote a variety of different present resources in us. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Define elements in student centered lessons on complex ideas, concepts and political discourse; - Identify different sources that can be used in the teaching and learning of European Studies; - Quote various sources to deliver lessons on European history, politics and identity lessons. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Create different types of notes, worksheets and marking criteria to explain complex ideas; - Create safe on site activities for school children; - Make use of the various sources available in the planning and conducting of European Studies lessons.
