DESCRIPTION This study-unit focuses on the area of creativity skills and personal development which prospective Business and IT managers need to develop in order to ensure that they have the necessary 'self' competencies to manage themselves and others effectively.

This study-unit will enable awareness and skills by providing practical frameworks which enhance their personal efficiency, individual behaviour, personality, attitudes and time management. The subject also addresses the development of creativity skills within the business domain.

Study-unit Aims:

- To provide the tools for personal skill and attitude development as a basis for sound leadership and management;
- To build awareness of personal abilities and developmental needs;
- To develop creativity skills in order to raise the profile of sound business management.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Understand required personal skills needed for leading oneself effectively - as a bedrock to leading others, teams and organisations;
- Understand the frameworks and techniques which enable managers to enhance their own status, influence and add-value to an organisation;
- Learn about creativity concepts, barriers to creativity and the art of creative leadership.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Develop key intra-personal skills - time management, managing stress, self leadership used in Business and IT management settings;
- Identify own preferred learning styles and utilise learning skills as a tool of continuous professional development;
- Enhance self-motivation skills and individual creativity techniques.
