A series of competencies will guide the student through the work that they are required to do and, working with their mentor, they will develop an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, skills development and the application of theoretical knowledge to clinical practice. Students will not be expected to function as 'qualified staff' but will learn the professional and personal skills under guidance and supervision from both mentors and academic supervisors in an incremental fashion, with each practice study-unit building on the last.
