DESCRIPTION The study-unit will introduce the subject matter by analysing spiritual theology as a theological discipline and its correlations with dogmatic and moral theology. It will introduce the students into the foundations of spiritual theology covering the phenomenological and dialogical backdrop to the divine-human interaction and transformation. Moreover, participants will be given the tools of spiritual theology as used in the descriptive, systematic, hermeneutic, and mystagogical methods while studying, finally, the relationship between discernment and methodology.

Study-Unit Aims:

- To present Spirituality as a theological discipline, and its corelation with other branches of Theology.
- To expose the foundations and the four main pillars of spiritual methodology.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Establish, in theological terms, the divine-human interaction and transformation.
- Recognise the humanistic foundations of spiritual thought in the light of the multifaceted approach to Spiritual Theology.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Critically appraise the rudiments of Spiritual Theology with regards to a scientific approach combining the deductive and the inductive methods.
- Differentiate and synthesise a diversity of spiritualities and human experiences.
