| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit is aimed to develop the student’s voice through the understanding and application of a good vocal technique in a varied repertoire. Students will explore and perform a selection of vocal works in different styles. All students who would like to choose this study-unit are required to sit for an audition. Only successful students will be allowed to register for this course. Study-unit Aims: 1. Develop a singer's vocal technique in terms of: a. breath and vocal support; b. tone production; c. vocal strength; d. flexibility and ability to create dynamic contrasts. 2. develop a singer’s ability to choose repertoire best suited to his/her voice; 3. develop the singer’s musical and interpretative skills; 4. develop the singer’s performance skills. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge and Understanding By the end of the study unit the student will be able to: a. comprehend basic concepts of vocal technique; b. comprehend how to study and perform vocal music correctly. 2. Skills By the end of the study unit the student will be able to: a. perform a selection of vocal repertoire; b. perform with a good vocal technique; c. perform with a stylistically good interpretation.
