DESCRIPTION During the final placement, students will build on the experience gained during the previous placements and take a leadership role that reflects the skills gained during the whole course. This placement will focus on sport administration and event management; physical activity and/or sport coaching and will take place in a sports club/association. Participants will also produce written documentation on the planning, delivery and evaluation of the sessions, and a log of the work carried out. The placement includes 75-105 hours of sports related work.

Students will be assessed by one or more placement visits as well as by presenting a logbook of work conducted and a reflective diary.

Study-Unit Aims:

- This placement is intended as part of the practical component of the whole course. It aims to give the students the hands-on experience in coaching or management issues in their chosen sport.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Put theory into practice in management, coaching and sports development roles;
- Gain knowledge of good practice and high quality standards in the field of sports.

2. Skills
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Develop further his/her coaching skills including organising, providing instruction, demonstrating, observing, analysing, and providing feedback;
- Develop the ability to manage and control sports events, programmes and sessions;
- Critically reflect on the performance and make links to professional standards;
- Build positive relationships with participants in sports and with colleagues;
- Use ICT at a competent level and in innovative ways to engage participants;
- Work independently in any sport or physical activity related work.
