DESCRIPTION The point of departure for a study in feminist philosophy is an examination of what 'feminism' is. The answer to this question will show that although many think of feminists as interested in ethics and politics, there are other fields and issues that feminist philosophers engage in. These include critiques of sexism, ideology, patriarchy, and colonialism. These issues have been dealt with by several key feminist philosophers, such as Spivak, Kristeva, Irigary, Moi and Cixious and a number of their writings will be examined.
