DESCRIPTION | Through this study-unit students will become acquainted with benchmark models of youth and post-modern ministry. After reflecting on how different theological, ecclesiological and anthropological concepts influence ministry students will be introduced to various approaches adopted in local and international settings and within and outside the Catholic Church. The study-unit will deal with: i. Fundamental concepts for youth ministry; ii. Models, Approaches and Setting in youth ministry. Apart from lectures students will be required to reflect on the models that they encounter during their placement in a youth ministry setting. Study-unit Aims By the end of the study-unit student should be able to: i. identify the practical ministry implications of his/her theological, ecclesiological and anthropological beliefs; ii. evaluate different youth ministry models and apply them according to the requirments of different local communities. Learning Outcomes 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: i. have basic knowledge of different youth ministry approaches and models; ii. outline basic differences between catholic and evangelical models. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: i. evaluate models of youth ministry; ii. develop and apply models of youth ministry according to the requirements of local communities and settings; iii. adopt an Outside-Inside youth ministry approach.
