DESCRIPTION In this study-unit student teachers will be introduced to reflective teaching. They will become familiar with the theory of reflective teaching and how to become reflective teachers in the primary school classroom setting. Issues of social contexts, identity, relationships, learning, values, planning and classroom organisation related to reflective teaching will provide student teachers with the tools to become reflective practitioners.

Study-unit Aims

- Offer student teachers the opportunity to understand reflective teaching
- Gain familiarity with the theoretical and practical issues of reflection
- Introduces student teachers to the reflective journal

Learning Outcomes

1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- Reflect on his/her practice in the classroom
- Write a reflective journal

2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- think reflectively about classroom practice
- acquire the skill to write reflectively
- develop a reflective journal
