DESCRIPTION Practical Psychology Skills Part 1

This first part of a second level course introduces students in a hands on fashion to basic interpersonal and intrapersonal attitudes and skills, including:
- Basic Group dynamics;
- Decision making;
- Assertiveness and reciprocity;
- Leadership skills and teamwork;
- Dealing with conflict.

Skills will be learned in a workshop setting through a brief theoretical exposition of the subject followed by practical exercises focused on the execution of the skills and their application to daily life and personal growth.

Practical Psychology Skills Part 2

This second part of the study-unit builds on Practical Psychology Skills I. In this study-unit students will have the opportunity to apply the skills previously learned by acting as co-facilitators.

Student teams have to choose a psychological skill from a pre-assigned list provided by their tutor, prepare and deliver the topic in the group and participate constructively in a feedback evaluation. In effect they will be running a life-skills session with peers and getting constructive feedback regarding their execution of this task. This part of the study-unit places students in a leadership and educational role and provides a setting where they can get feedback on the execution of these roles from peers and professionals (i.e. lecturers).
